What is the correct CBD dosage for my pet?

In a comprehensive 2017 review, authors looked at numerous clinical trials and research in humans and animals and confirmed that CBD is a safe treatment option.
However, there was no singular, universal dosage of CBD suitable for every person or animal across the board. Instead, the review highlighted the fact that individual has dose-dependent optimal responses. What works for one person or animal won’t work as well for another. In the human studies, the dosages ranged from around 20 and 1,500 milligrams (mg) daily, which is a significant difference.
In another 2020 systematic review of CBD dosages across 25 clinical studies, the authors stated that CBD has a better side-effect profile than other drugs and that most studies reported no adverse events associated with CBD. Doses ranged from around 20 to 2,000 milligrams daily. No definitive conclusion could be made on the required amount for positive effects as it depends on the individual and the outcome assessed.

How to calculate the CBD dosage for your pet
In some cases, it’s straightforward to calculate the CBD dosage. For example, many gummies, capsules, and pills stipulate the amount of CBD in one serving, such as 10 mg of CBD per gummy. It’s slightly more complicated with CBD oil that typically comes in a dropper bottle. If the packaging states the amount of CBD in one drop, you can use this to calculate the total number of drops needed.
If, however, the packaging specifies the amount of CBD in the whole bottle, you’ll need to calculate the dose. A single dose, not the full dropper, of CBD oil, is approximately 0.05 ml. Therefore, a 10 ml bottle of CBD oil contains 200 drops. Let’s say the bottle contains a total of 2,000 mg of CBD, meaning each drop contains around 10 mg of CBD. If your pet needs 20 mg, you should administer two drops.
